As a result I've paid for upgrades to the last three versions of Little Snitch (), though it admittedly can be both frustrating and perplexing to the uninitiated user (the current version is light years more user-friendly with an excellent GUI).
One remaining concern, especially with all the news of how bad guys are finally getting around to sharpening their spears in hopes of puncturing Macs, is privacy/security. For macOS I've come to a similar conclusion using Cookie (sweetp productions) it's all I feel I need. I still use and rely on Ccleaner for my Windows 7 desktop.
I ultimately learned that many, if not all, of the hoops I routinely had to jump through to keep an OS running and humming were not needed for Macs to function, and this is coming from one who is a certified fan of utilities.
Like many switchers, I retained inherent notions of what should be done as well as traditional tools to do them with. I've been a Mac user for a little over 10 years, starting with OS X Tiger.
